I'm dealing with a PC that has two distinct Windows 10 installations on separate SSDs. Steam is logged in on both drives, but it doesn't retain my login state when switching OSes. For instance, logging in to Steam on Install 1 and then rebooting or restarting back to Install 1 remembers the session. However, when switching to Install 2, Steam loses track of the login and requires a fresh sign-in. This issue arose after I reinstalled Windows 10 on these drives, and previously Steam handled logins smoothly without this problem. Additionally, no mobile code authentication is needed during switches, unlike when using a new device for Steam login. Please let me know if you need clarification or adjustments. Mods: You're welcome to move this outside gaming if it fits another category.

Steam stores your hardware ID in encryption tied to one operating system. When you change OS, it attempts to read the same encrypted ID, but since the ID differs, it fails to recognize it. You can only perform one autologin per OS per system unless you create separate Steam installation folders for each OS, with distinct installation directories.
