Installation of Win11 got stuck during the network drivers setup phase.
I've been attempting a clean Windows 11 installation on my new machine, but it's proving difficult. Windows 10 set up fine without any issues, yet I opted for 11. The system is equipped with the following components:
Ryzen 5 8600G
MSI Pro B650M-P
16GB 6000MHz CL30 RAM
XPG S70 Blade 1TB
XPG Pylon 550W
The installation tool used is the 24H2 ISO from MS. A multiboot USB drive, prepared with Ventoy, was used as the media. The process went smoothly until it prompts to connect to a network and select "Install drivers." No option exists to bypass this stage. I pressed the driver selection button and pointed to the MSI chipset package. Since the driver is an executable, I had already extracted its files, but the installer couldn't locate them. I then downloaded a Realtek driver, another executable, which I also extracted. The installer managed to find something and instructed me to restart. Restarting brings me back to the country and keyboard layout settings, followed by connecting to the network again and selecting "Install drivers." It then asks for another reboot after it appears capable of using the files. I've tried all subfolders within the extracted packages without success. This cycle keeps repeating. What should I do?
Network driver package is a zip file (not an executable). Visit the provided link for support details. Download and unzip the archive, then locate the specified files: rt640x64.cat, rt640x64.inf, and rt640x64.sys from the realtek PCIe location. Install the drivers from that directory.
Thank you. That was quite foolish of me. I was easily distracted by something that happened a few days ago. When I needed a display driver for the same computer after installing Windows 10 two days prior, I discovered that MSI provides a driver for Win11 but not for 10. I resorted to using the generic driver from the AMD website. The chipset driver from MSI functioned properly and the Windows 10 installer didn't request any network driver.
With all this still clear in my mind, I only considered the chipset driver and didn’t think about searching for the LAN driver button on the MSI download page.
Thanks again.
