I usually use tweezers with fine tips, a credit card, or guitar picks to carefully realign things. I've done this several times without any issues—once on my 1700 after dropping it, and multiple times on friends' or relatives' CPUs. I hope AMD improves the socket design; they often don’t secure the CPU properly when you remove the cooler. It's not just with AM4 sockets—I think this has been a recurring issue. Sometimes the thermal interface material is too thick, so even slight twists can fail to hold it in place.
