Installation issues with Quake 4
I assembled a vintage PC setup from the early 2000s and am attempting to gather a few games from that era. I'm running XP 64 bit, so I won't be using the internet.
I'm considering purchasing a used Quake 4 copy to add to my collection, but before buying, I wanted to confirm it wouldn't need an online check or any other trick to play. Could anyone help? Thanks in advance.
Quake 4 doesn't need any internet verification. I might think about using a 32bit version of WinXP for an old-style system. This would help because drivers are more reliable and many classic games came with 16-bit installers that won't work on a 64-bit OS. Regarding activation, WinXP stops working after 30 days.
Thank you for the clarification. And thank you for the useful information in your link. However, I lack a license for the 32-bit version of Windows unless the license covers both. That seems unlikely. It's hard to recall exactly how that used to work.
