I’m not sure how the software interacts with the storage device behind the scenes, but I’m certain removing partitions won’t delete configuration information like whether the drive uses an MBR or GPT setup. If the partitions have been wiped, the data that instructs the drive to generate new partitions via MBR might still exist, especially since the installation media employs a GPT format. Because of this uncertainty, it’s probably best to eliminate any risk by wiping the drive and removing the MBR configuration.

Use your laptop to reinstall it. Alternatively, follow the 8.1 setup instructions. Then obtain the Win10 ISO file and install it directly. You won’t require a USB drive or any additional tools.

I'm using an 8.1 hard drive right now and will share updates later. Also, I'm preparing a Windows 10 flash drive just in case.
