Installation fails due to missing compiler in the system path during setup on Steam Deck
Trying to Install Wine on SteamDeck so I can run the native version of Wizard101 since I cannot sign in with a Kingsisle account on Steam and have spent many years on this account When trying to install Wine I am getting a C Compiler error and I do not know where to go from here. I have used very little Linux before and this and I would love any help I can get to make this work. The error I am getting is No acceptable C compiler found in $PATH What C Compiler would work well with this or does Wine come with one and I missed something? Any help is very appreciated!
GCC is likely the best option for you, though I haven’t used Wine personally. https://gcc.gnu.org/install/
You could simply input the game manually as a non-Steam title. This would let Proton handle compatibility automatically, allowing you to choose the desired Proton version.
Have you experimented with steam to operate the Wizards101 client using proton?
