I recently upgraded my system to a Ryzen 5 3600, Asus Rog Strix B550, with 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. My setup includes Windows 10 on its own M.2 drive, while Ubuntu runs on the second M.2 slot. (Windows 10 is already installed.) When I start the live USB to install Ubuntu, I encounter error screens. I've tried updating my BIOS and disabled fastboot, CSM, and virtualization. Most issues are related to AMD-VI errors, causing the computer to freeze. My previous build (Ryzen 5 1600) worked fine with dual booting. Are there any known problems Linux has with the new Zen CPU? I'm really trying to get this up and running as soon as possible.

The system has "other os" enabled but lacks a disabling choice.

Searching for the amd-vi completion-wait issue led to a solution involving adding iommu=soft to the kernel boot settings. Press any key when the blank purple screen appears with two icons at the bottom to reveal bootloader choices. Use arrow keys to pick "Try ubuntu without installing" at the bottom, then type the command there and press enter to start the boot.

Apologies for the poor image clarity. I’m having trouble accessing the screen. Still, I can reach the grub loader and enter iommu=soft, but I keep encountering error messages afterward.

I spent some time searching recently and discovered the issue. Turning off IOMMU resolved the problem.
