I needed to reinstall Windows 8 due to a corrupted OS, and everything seemed fine until I attempted to install my games and curses. Now downloading the .NET framework consistently triggers error code 0x800F0906. Despite checking all the solutions on Microsoft’s support site, I haven’t managed to install .NET Framework 3.5. Any advice would be highly valued.

I attempted to use the supposed offline command but received an error because the source file wasn't located. The installation media was on the F: drive.

The same MS14-046 advisory lists various KB identifiers for Windows 8.0. Consider uninstalling KB2966827 as an alternative. Microsoft acknowledges the problem and released an update to resolve it. You can find more details here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3005628
