I'm facing issues installing Windows 10 on an old Asrock Z97 motherboard. The BIOS is up to date, but the install keeps failing with errors about disk installation. I've tried using the M.2 slot and other SATA ports without success. After running Diskpart to clean the drives, I still can't get Windows to work properly. I managed to boot Linux Pop OS fine, so it seems the hardware is okay. This is my first time encountering this problem, and I'm not sure what's causing it.

It’s unclear what the issue is without the specific error codes.

No fault detected. Navigate to the BIO section and activate the drive controller. I reviewed the entire BIOS settings, and everything appears correct. The boot menu displays the available drives.

The previous BIOS version couldn't handle NVMe, so I switched to the updated one. After the upgrade, the issue appeared. However, installing Pop OS worked fine.

It clearly explains the reasons behind the installation failure.

Windows installation failed on this disk. The system's hardware might not allow booting from it. Make sure the controller is turned on in the BIOS settings. This issue started when using an NVMe M.2 drive, then a Sata 2.5 drive also caused the same problem. I've previously installed Windows 10 on this motherboard, but only after updating the BIOS did the problem resolve.

Navigate back to the original BIOS settings and proceed with installing Windows on the SATA storage device.
