I have an Asus laptop (more specifically Zenbook pro 14) and I wanted to install elementary os. When I boot a usb drive with the iso everything works fine until the partition selection. The installer only sees the usb drive and not the pc disk! What can I do?

What type of internal storage device do you use? SATA HDD, SATA SSD, M.2 SATA, or M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe?

Your drive might be split into GPT partitions, with the boot process using either the MBR image or the opposite.

There are two main ways to divide disks: older MBR and newer GPT. Most recent Windows versions use GPT by default, so if you've created partitions before, it's likely GPT. You'll probably find two choices in the boot menu—Legacy and UEFI.

Notice the restart feature usually offers a key press to access the boot menu—commonly F12, F10, F8 or ESC. If your system uses UEFI and it's activated in BIOS (especially after formatting your drive with Windows to enable GPT), you can choose between legacy boot and UEFI settings, which will be clearly labeled.

You can extend the partition to an MBR on a different Windows machine. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...n-mbr-disk

You need to format the boot disk or the USB drive, depending on your setup.

Prepare the USB with Elementary OS image in UEFI mode, similar to the Rufus method but using Elementary OS instead of Windows.
