USB 3.0 connections require the Intel USB driver to function properly, which means you won’t be able to see the thumb drive.

It might have been using Windows 7, and I was puzzled about why my USB drive wasn't listed as the boot device during startup.

7 required USB 3.0 drivers initially, but later it worked without issues.
