I recently bought Windows 8 Pro disks for a new setup. The supplier emailed instructions that contain a .reg and .batch file. These files are part of the installation process, but I’m unsure what they do. Should I run them or skip them? This is my first build with a new computer. Any advice would be appreciated!

Consult your vendor. A typical Windows setup shouldn't require any of those.

With an optical drive connected, simply insert the disk and turn on the computer. It will prompt you to press a key to start the CD/DVD boot process. The system will guide you through the steps, functioning similarly to installing any other software.

I don't have access to your purchase history or specific transaction details. Could you clarify which item you're asking about? I can help if you provide more information.

Follow these guidelines for a clean setup. This involves installing Windows 8 from scratch on a brand new PC or an empty hard drive.
1. Begin with a fresh install of Windows 8. Power on the computer using the installation disc inside the DVD drive. Ensure the boot order lists the DVD drive first in your BIOS settings. Once the system boots, adhere to the on-screen guidance. (Bypass this step if you’ve already completed it)
2. Once the fresh install finishes and Windows 8 is operational, retrieve the zipped setup folder from the desktop. Extract its contents.
3. Open the extracted folder and double-click “FIRST.” Select “Run/Yes/Ok” for each window that appears.
4. Next, right-click “SECOND” and choose “Run as Administrator.” Confirm with “Run/Yes/Ok” for all prompts.
5. Restart the machine; Windows will activate automatically via the internet.
6. Decide whether to remove the setup folder or retain it. For assistance or clarification, reach out for help.
