The GPU will arrive in two weeks, so you should wait. Testing the fans while powering it on is a good idea to avoid damage. You don’t need a W10 key right now—just use it with a watermark if you want to keep it. Chrome downloads and other content should still work.
It functions without needing a Windows key, though updates won’t be available and you may encounter some messages. You’ll also lose the ability to adjust your desktop background. Keys for this service are available on platforms like Bonanza or Kinguin for $10–30. Don’t worry about the fans—checking them won’t damage anything, but it won’t help you get past the post.
Appreciate the help. Those inexpensive window keys might be disabled by Microsoft if they suspect theft. Also, changing the background using third-party tools is possible—Wallpaper Engine from Steam simply overlays a new image on top of the original.
I've never encountered a deactivation issue, and I've dealt with thousands of them while developing systems for my work. From what I've seen, the ones that fail tend to stop working immediately, while those that function properly remain operational. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible or rare, but unlikely. These sites usually don’t get stolen, but they’re often sold in bulk outside Microsoft’s licensing terms. Kinguin provides a warranty for a few extra dollars. I’m uncertain about switching wallpapers to another third-party system. It’s rare for me to run a system without a key since they’re inexpensive and I can’t deliver a working system without a valid OS, or customers might not be satisfied.
I’m really enjoying these responses in your updates—it’s making me happy. Thank you so much! I’m thrilled and grateful for everything. Without this community, building my PC wouldn’t have been possible. Appreciate all of you! 🎉
Sure thing. It seems you believe you can solve it on your own, just saving us some effort.
