It's fine for now, but keep in mind. Windows 7 works, though it's better to be aware of the situation.

This seems strange, I possess a key, yet after resetting my PC it doesn’t indicate I need to move it.

Legally you're limited to using one key per system. MS creates a copy of your hardware when Windows is set up. Attempting installation on multiple devices may block the key. Resetting your machine and reinstalling Windows will prevent any activation checks unless the hardware matches. Mostly the motherboard matters. All Windows 10 activation records are kept on Microsoft servers to manage them. If you're linked to a Windows account, simply log in with that account to activate Windows.
