Hello. I’m considering purchasing an SSD for my laptop. If I do, I’d like to install a brand-new Windows without using the existing HDD. I know it’s an OEM product, which might make things a bit tricky. I also plan to switch to Windows 10 after July 29th. I’ve heard that fresh installations are possible with Windows 10... Can activation work directly on Windows 10 without needing an upgrade? Or will I need to use the current Windows 8.1 OEM key for activation? Is there a way to exchange keys from older versions like Windows 7 or 8/8.1 to get a Windows 10 license? And what are the best methods for getting a new SSD that supports a fresh Windows 10 setup?

You need to: 1) Safely copy all your data to your hard drive. 2) Switch to Windows 10 using your motherboard (this ensures it stays linked). 3) Insert the SSD. 4) Set up Windows 10 on the SSD and use the 8.1 activation code. 5) Transfer your files from the hard drive to the SSD, and you're ready to go.
