Install Windows 10 on a system lacking internal storage.
Hello. I'm a programmer and recently received a new laptop from work (which I bring home). It's significantly better than my old one (a Dell G5 15 with a 1060 MaxQ). I plan to use it for gaming at home, but I want to keep everything clean—no installation, no traces. I've researched and found that using an external SSD via USB 3.1 is a solid approach. I'm considering booting Windows from that external drive instead of the internal storage, which should be straightforward in the BIOS. This way, I can run whatever I want on the SSD while keeping my main laptop unused. I've seen a few videos about creating bootable SSDs, but they're from 2017. Do you have any alternative suggestions? I don't want to set up a dual boot, as that would leave some space missing. I'm looking for a clever, stealthy method.
I downloaded Windows 10 onto a USB drive with all my programs ready, and it functions properly even without an HDD or SSD.
Start by obtaining approval from the right person. Misusing company gear often leads to termination. The laptop you were given is for work purposes only, not personal use. Once permission is granted, it becomes a straightforward matter since you can share openly with your office.
This method creates an external USB bootable Windows 2 installation.
Mr.Nofun here. It's a small firm and everyone knows each other well, actually people even hang out at work. That's not a big concern. I just don't want to cause any issues.
Tell me about your experience and the details of your system. What version of Windows are you using? And what is the speed at which it operates?
Windows 10 edition offers the same experience across Pro, Home, Education, and Enterprise versions. The differences are minor, mainly extra features in the higher tiers, with artificial restrictions that increase costs for Enterprise.
Dr. Nofun here. I wasn't even a student for four years before being known as Mr.
