You might be correct since I have SSD and HDD partitions set up on Ubuntu with full access to all files and folders.

The Ubuntu installation key remains connected during setup. If you inserted it, removed it afterward, and tried to install without mounting it, it will default to booting from Windows.

Do you have pictures of your disk arrangement? We can't proceed much without that. It seems your partitions might be set up incorrectly, though I don’t have the full picture.
