When I try to show on my Mint 19.0.2 Cinnamon, everything works but the full screen appears with black borders and a small OS window. The highest resolution it supports is 2560p, though my native resolution is 4K... How can I fix this? I'm getting frustrated because it's hard to understand why they don't make it simpler. I've already tried everything, but nothing shows the full screen properly with the OS in the middle and boxes. I just want to upgrade to 4K as the maximum it offers is 2560, which isn't enough for me. I downloaded NVidia drivers but didn't see any changes. Could a Linux expert help me get full screen and a proper 4K native display? Thanks.

On Mint, simply open the driver manager and choose the NVIDIA option. You may need to install a repository for the newest versions, but the one listed should be functional.

I'm really grateful for your support. Three expert helpers made a big difference. Thanks to Electornics, Sauron, and Bananasplit. I’m still confused about the repository but I understand you’re trying to fix the smoothness. Upgrading the NVIDIA drivers is key to getting back to my original resolution. Right now it’s stuck in a basic box with black edges. I’m just a new Linux beginner—my only clue is that I have a .run file from NVIDIA, but it doesn’t work. I need smooth, responsive windows without lag or tearing. Appreciate all the help!

Access driver manager via the start menu, choose the NVIDIA option, and allow the system to display the most up-to-date versions.
