Hey, I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to remove the Android OS from these old phones and install other distributions like RetroPie. It sounds a bit tricky, but I'm not sure if it's really doable. Thanks for helping!

That would be very challenging and not worth your effort. Just purchase a Raspberry Pi (it’s around $50 with the complete setup).

Since the Android release is outdated, like the Galaxy S5 and its poor TouchWiz, I just needed to check if it was feasible. Want to try using older gadgets?

Obtain a tailored ROM, it supports running 9.0 Pie. Check XDA for more info.
