You're looking to set up Linux Mint and Ubuntu Studio on a dedicated 500GB drive while still using Windows 10 on the same PC. That’s a solid plan for separating your environments. Let me know if you need guidance on the steps involved!

Get the Linux ISO file and save it onto a USB drive using Rufus. Connect the USB to your computer, enter BIOS settings so it starts from the USB, follow the installation steps, choose your desired installation medium when prompted, then set up GRUB to let you pick between Windows, Linux, or switch it in BIOS as needed.

I would set up grub on the Linux storage instead of your Windows 10 drive. That way, whenever needed, you can simply swap out the Linux HDD for a Windows one and restore normal operation. Earlier, I installed grub on my Windows drive since it was an SSD and the Linux was on a traditional hard drive. After formatting the Linux drive inside Windows and trying to reboot, I encountered issues.

You should format the partition to create a root partition for installing Linux Mint.

In the partition manager, you have the option to choose the partition you wish to create, including a new one for the root partition.

You're referring to different options. They each serve their purposes. Just search for the one you need. For space in MB, divide by 1024 or 1000. About 27000MB fits roughly 24-25GB, while 33000MB suits around 30GB.
