Hello, I just created a Linux Mint USB drive and started it. Now I want to format the drive using the Windows installation on my PC, making it a single partition. How can I do this? Thank you for your help!

You can launch gparted from the live Mint desktop you're running, and it helps remove all partitions you wish to delete. Alternatively, when installing Windows, the setup will identify your install and prompt whether you want to erase it and reformat or switch to dual boot via GRUB.

During the setup of Linux Mint, you should find the chance to modify the partition. You might simply remove all partitions if you don’t plan to use Windows or any of its files.

My perspective here. Keeping the partition intact is wise right now; Linux isn’t as vibrant as it looks. It’ll require persistence and focus to stay committed. You might want to avoid making any major changes to Windows just yet. From my own trials migrating to Linux, the biggest hurdle has been setting up shortcuts in Linux. If this is just a side project and I’m not on the same page, I’ll admit it.

You just completed the setup but still have two partitions, and you only need one.

you didn't understand what i'm saying. it's not possible for linux to run on just one partition, and a boot partition will always be needed.

It's quite straightforward in the terminal. The command `ln -s ~/Pictures ~/Desktop` sets up a shortcut for your pictures on the desktop. Regarding doing it through the graphical interface... I'll explain that later.

The two partitions are likely the bootloader and UEFI sections.

Absolutely, most tasks are simple in the command line. I'm a bit lazy and prefer comfort ^^
