Hello, in Spain Movistar (owned by Telefónica) is connecting new homes with fiber optic cables from the ISP directly to the house and then straight to the router, eliminating copper entirely. I’m curious if this approach is widespread elsewhere, as it seems quite unusual in other parts of Europe such as Britain and Germany. Please find some photos to clarify my point.

In major metropolitan areas like New York, Los Angeles, Toronto<|pad|> and Vancouver, ISPs frequently provide fibre internet. Roughly an hour away, I have access to a 10 gigabit fibre connection.

Fiber infrastructure has been a slowly expanding medium between ISP's and homes/businesses. Businesses usually have access to it first before home owners but many people today already have FTTH (Fiber To The Home) through services such as Google Fiber. Though recently I've heard they've slowed down or outright stopped their expansion.
