Install a 120GB SSD drive and keep it simple with few applications installed.
Hey everyone! Just checked my storage and it looks like the boot drive is almost full. I have two drives—my Apps & Features settings show 66 apps installed, with the biggest being Adobe Reader at 500MB. The files are mostly small, but I’m worried something might be taking up space. I don’t install many programs, and all my Steam games are on the main hard drive. My old Kingston 120GB A400 SATA 3 2.5" drive has been around for a while; some people say it’s not great, though I’ve used it for years. I’m planning an upgrade around Boxing Day. Anyone have any ideas?
Execute Disk Cleanup with admin privileges, it should restore around 20GB of space
You can utilize tools such as TreeSize or WinDirStat for a visual overview of your SSD/HDD contents. This helps identify which files consume the most space, including system files that might otherwise be hidden from the user. For example, using TreeSize on your system.
It varies based on your available storage. Remember, files like music, pictures, and videos can use a lot of space. Consider transferring your photos and videos to the E drive to check if it improves things.
Wow, really appreciate the idea! (I was getting a bit worried about how it got there.) It turns out one of the games ended up on my SSD. I couldn’t find it before, but now it is!
