Inquiry regarding resetting Brave Browser configurations
Inquiry regarding resetting Brave Browser configurations
I have a query regarding how to reinitialize the Brave Browser on my Windows 10 desktop. I wanted to begin anew with this browser. After consulting a Brave Community forum thread for guidance on resetting Sites and Shield Settings, I opted to clear all data through the Advanced Clear browsing data option and used the Reset Settings menu in the main browser settings. Additionally, I performed a factory reset on my Samsung Galaxy Android smartphone using the app clear data feature. Once both browsers on my PC and smartphone completed the reset and syncing process, I noticed a web page remained open on the desktop linked to the Brave community thread. Based on what I understood, the browsers on both devices were successfully reset and synced, allowing me to log back into accounts on various websites and services. I believe that keeping a web page open might have only temporarily affected data collection during browsing, but due to my limited knowledge of browser internals, I was uncertain about its influence on the reset or other critical operations. I’m asking if opening a web page could potentially interfere with the Brave browser’s reset, synchronization, or any essential functions on my PC, smartphone, or other browsers like Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome that perform similar tasks. Thank you in advance for your response.
This question is very specific to software and would be better addressed in the Brave community forums.
However, I can still provide a general answer about web browsers (Firefox, Chrome).
When you close the browser and perform a reset, the most recently visited page might remain in your history and won’t be deleted. Therefore, for a proper reset, it’s recommended to close the browser, restart it, and then launch it again.
For optimal results, download the installation files, clear any stored data inside the browser, remove the program from your system, restart your device, and reinstall the browser using the previously saved media. This process is seen as a full reset. Note that this may still leave traces in the registry, even after uninstallation.
