My Dell G15 5515 is a laptop with specific hardware details. To add a new internal hard drive or an SSD/NVMe, you would need to follow a particular procedure. Checking compatibility is essential before proceeding. Your current drive, an OM3PDP3-AD NVMe KDI 512GB card, should work for installation. When considering upgrading, you can either remove the existing drive and insert the new one or use a more detailed process. Since your laptop only supports one drive currently, replacing it will likely be straightforward. For larger storage needs, an SSD or NVMe would be ideal. If you need further guidance, feel free to ask!

Your laptop's motherboard features a free "SSD2" port, meaning it should theoretically support an additional SSD. You'll need to acquire another NVMe SSD in the M.2 2230 size. If issues arise, consider purchasing from a trusted seller with a solid return policy, such as Amazon, allowing you to exchange it for a refund. Yes, removing the bottom panel can occasionally be challenging.

A bigger M.2 2280 model might also work.

The M.2 standoff screw may need to be moved to another location for accommodating a bigger M.2 drive.

I don't have much experience with this topic, but I want to make sure you understand what relocating the standoff screw means. Could you clarify your question so I can explain it more clearly? Thanks for your patience and for sharing the responses—I really appreciate it.

Yes, I understand now. I was checking the SSD2 port in the wrong orientation. It should fit a bigger SSD. Appreciate the clarification.

The link provided outlines the steps for adding another drive for extra storage. It suggests locating the drive in Windows Storage Management, assigning it a letter, and formatting it. Adding a C drive to the new setup would require a more complex process involving cloning. Most M.2 SSDs should work with this method.
