Hello everyone, I’m planning to upgrade my PC and need to decide on a CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Given my tight budget, I’ve chosen the Ryzen 5 3400G with Vega 11 graphics, paired with the GSKILL Flare X 2400 16GB (8x2) RAM. For the motherboard, I’m considering options from Gigabyte and ASUS.

I’m unsure which one to pick because I want good audio quality for both music and gaming. The ASUS model has a 1220 codec while the Gigabyte has an 892 codec. Also, the ASUS board offers more audio slots (6) compared to the Gigabyte (3). More audio slots can be useful for multi-device setups or better sound performance.

Regarding LAN connectivity, Gigabyte is known for strong wired connections, which might be important if I plan to use multiple devices. As for longevity, both brands are reputable, but Gigabyte’s components often have a longer lifespan in budget builds.

Please let me know your thoughts so I can finalize my choices! Thank you ahead!

The three port configuration on the ASUS Mobo is designed for stereo audio systems (2.0 or 2.1) while Gigabyte offers a surround sound setup (2.0, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1). Based on my observations, you likely won’t feel a noticeable difference in sound quality since both boards are of high standard. They both feature solid VRM designs and share comparable or very similar capabilities. Lan connectivity remains consistent at gigabit speeds. For durability, they’re built quite alike, so they should remain functional for a long time—just avoid pushing the CPU beyond its limits.
