Inquiry about replacing the screen
Hello
I own an MSI Katana B13V laptop with a scratched screen, and I bought a replacement. However, I’m unsure whether I need to disconnect the ribbon cable from the motherboard before swapping the display. I took out the battery and adapter, kept the POWER button pressed for one minute to drain power. Is this sufficient, or should I also remove the display cable from the motherboard? On another laptop, the backlight fuse was damaged, causing a completely black screen.
Yes, I am using an anti-static device while performing this task.
Almost certainly. If its not plugged into power, the battery is disconnected, and you've held the power button, there is no power left to cause you an issue
I would recommend looking up a service/repair guide for your specific model of laptop, as they can probably give you a clearer idea of exactly what is required for this repair through pictures or a video. Generally, however, you would only have to remove the display cable on the LCD side and undo some screws underneath the bezel.
