Ram generally performs well in most situations, though not at its maximum capacity. For the first generation Ryzen, it's highly unlikely to exceed 2400/2666Mhz, which can be quite frustrating. It requires extra effort to test it. Even if the manufacturer is unclear, there aren't many companies producing it. You're likely referring to a situation where the chip lacks clear branding, but the module should still function properly. With newer Ryzen models, you're more likely to reach 3200Mhz without too much trouble. Reminder: If you switch to the 3700X, verify your motherboard compatibility... A320 boards aren't ideal, particularly with power-hungry chips.

RAM speed adjustment depends on your setup; it may auto-tune to 2400Mhz or you'll need to set it manually. For the 3700X, using a B450 board makes sense—avoiding the more expensive X570 line since B450s should handle the workload well.

B450 is definitely sufficient! MSI offers quality options. B550 should be available soon, so it’s worth looking into now. Make sure to verify the BIOS settings immediately after installation. Your RAM should operate at its maximum supported speed by your CPU. For first-generation Ryzen processors, aim for around 2133/2400Mhz. If you activate XMP/DOCP profiles, memory may push beyond those limits—unless you adjust voltages carefully. When it doesn’t work, the screen often turns black, you’ll need to reboot multiple times, then force a BIOS restart while disabling DOCP and reverting to stock settings. This behavior might vary depending on your motherboard.

Most DRAM chips globally are produced by just three firms—Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron Technologies. From a chip perspective, your options remain secure regardless.

It seems the focus was mainly on Intel. I’ll check out the B550 boards when they’re released.
