I purchased the MSI PRO H610M-G DDR4 DDR4 motherboard from Amazon, expecting delivery next week. Upon checking the images, I noticed no USB 3 header and that the case includes a front USB 3 port. I ordered a USB 2 header adapter to ensure functionality for a Xbox game controller, which works well at USB 2 speeds. Could anyone confirm whether this motherboard has a functional USB 3 header? I’m only concerned about having a working front USB port for my controller.

You assumed it was a USB 2 header, but USB 3 is typically blue and labeled as USB 2. It seems like a USB 3 device.

The USB2 header consists of just 9 pins and is compact. Contemporary motherboards often feature a black-colored header to maintain visual appeal.

The label indicates the presence of a second USB header rather than specifying USB 2 directly.

I haven't assembled a PC in about 15 to 18 years, so I'm a bit unfamiliar with it.

Manuals exist for a reason. Not every guide is perfect, but the motherboard manual is sufficient to recognize headers and ports. Also, take off the protective plastic around the CPU cooler if included. Try assembling and POSTing without the case first—placing the board inside its own box works well. This way, you avoid dealing with unplugging and removing components from the PC case when issues arise.
