Inquiry about MSI B450M Mortar BIOS updates
Hello everyone, my situation is a bit unusual. My motherboard is the MSI B450M Mortar (non-MAX) and it works fine when running in the background, but after repair I noticed something strange. The BIOS now says I have a MSI B450M Mortar MAX chip. CPU-Z also reflects this change. I remember previously having the regular non-MAX version. It seems someone might have installed the MAX BIOS on my non-MAX board during the repair. After fixing, the BIOS version listed is E7B89AMS.2F1, as shown in the BIOS setup and CPU-Z (see attached picture). This matches what I found online—other users have used it before. What confuses me is:
1. My motherboard was changed from non-MAX to MAX after repair.
2. The BIOS installed now doesn’t match MSI’s official listing.
3. Most people I talk to use this BIOS, but I can’t locate it on MSI’s site.
I’m also puzzled when trying to update the BIOS from the official link—the version E7B89AMS.2F1 isn’t visible. Some listings end with 0 instead of 1 (like E7B89AMS.1D0 or E7B89AMS.2G0). I know this BIOS should exist because I’ve seen it in forums and videos, but it’s unclear why it’s missing from MSI’s catalog.

The BIOS update might stem from inadequate website upkeep by MSI. It's common for internal groups to possess newer releases that aren't yet accessible to the public.
