Hello everyone, I bought a new PC recently and am curious about RAM and XMP settings. I have a Corsair vengeance RGB pro 3200mhz with 16GB RAM, but it only reached 2133mhz. After enabling XMP, I experienced a BSOD shortly after. My system specs are 3900x, 2060 super, and a Gigabyte AORUS motherboard. I’m wondering if this is just a coincidence or if there’s another issue involved. Also, how much of a performance boost would it be without using XMP? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Do you have RAM in slots 2 and 4? It seems the XMP profile isn't stable. Make sure it's enabled and verify the DRAM voltage is set to 1.35. You might also consider raising the SOC voltage to 1.0.

They are split onto two boards marked A2 and B2, though the layout might vary with orientation. The gaps between them could affect placement. To adjust voltage levels, you’ll need to access the settings for both boards individually. Let me know if you need further guidance. Cheers.

A2 and B2 refer to slots 2 and 4 from left to right on the CPU side. Check the BIOS menu for options like DRAM voltage and SOC voltage. In the tweaker settings, adjust the vcore SOC to 1.05 and DRAM voltage to 1.35 if not automatically set when enabling XMP.

I've now turned on XMP and adjusted them to your recommended settings, except for SOC which is set to 1.052 since that option wasn't available. Should I proceed with this change and monitor the results? Are there any potential risks? Is using the XMP profile still beneficial? Thanks.

It might also help to note that when the BSOD occurred, a dump file was generated. I examined it using BluescreenView, which provided additional details, and received the attached information. Issues with ntfs.sys and ntoskrnl.exe were identified.

Run with it. Maintain VSOC at 1.1V by default, adjust DRAM voltage to 1.35.

The main concern is its instability and the blue screen issues, which are occurring now. You won’t harm anything. The BIOS prevents you from altering values in a way that could damage components.
