Inquiry about hard drive issues
I own this hard drive I've been using since 2013, around 2TB, but it's quite slow. I also have a smaller SSD with 200-300GB. I'm curious—if I run Windows on the SSD and keep the older hard drive, will that improve my computer's speed while still letting me use the 2TB drive for files?
I was attempting to defrag it earlier, but the app remains unresponsive no matter how many times I try or switch to admin mode.
When setting up Windows on your SSD and connecting the hard drive, it should function properly. If issues arise during installation, consider using a new copy from a USB drive to the SSD.
This indicates your drive could be failing, often after years of use or heavy activity. I recommend following the steps and clicking the notification to attempt repairing drive errors, though it may point to a hardware issue. If you can't download files from the internet quickly after restarting, save any critical data to the SSD as soon as possible to prevent further damage.
