the aux connector was damaged by my cat. I couldn't locate a suitable replacement cable online, though I discovered an aux splitter that might work. The cable is long enough for use as a substitute, but I need to cut the female aux connector. Interestingly, the headphone has a bitten cable—only small ones are available, but when I opened it, I found five cables soldered inside, the grey one is unfamiliar.

I recommend capturing a couple of photos of the headset highlighting the "small cables". Show the cables and their colors. Ideally, standard ones should be used.
Upload the images here via imgur (www.imgur.com).
You might consider swapping the cable by rewiring or replacing it.
But make sure to correctly align the pins and cables before soldering or splicing.
What audio device are these headphones connected to?
Pin layouts can differ.

Yes, exactly that headset. I have taken photos and uploaded them on this link as you suggested.
I tried using the headset at a nearby phone repair shop, and they attempted to splice the cable with another one (it looked very similar). However, after testing, I noticed it became unusable because the sound kept jumping rapidly from left to right and vice versa. It seemed like someone was adjusting the sound settings and shifting the entire song from one side to the other.

I also read an article suggesting that when soldering a new cable, it’s important to match the colors correctly for proper placement.
As you recommended splicing, what method do you suggest for securely joining the cables so they don’t come apart over time while using the headset often?
