inquiry about a 10gbps dedicated ISP connection
You'd need to contact the ISP directly. We can't determine which unidentified providers are using their services.
It relies on the specific router provided by the ISP. Probably two options, though one may be sufficient.
It seems you're describing a setup with two cables entering a single connector. Like this cable:
I just inquired about this. Even the 100gbps connection uses a single fiber. My location will get fiber next year. Since a major ISP provides 10gbps internet, I’m curious—could the current fiber infrastructure support that speed?
For homes it can use GPON with one cable resembling the left half of the connector shown earlier, or simply standard fiber as depicted above. MPO is mainly used in data centers and backbone networks. Single-pair fiber can reach 400Gbps, but you’ll likely need FEC as well.
They provide only 10Gbps on their "Northern Light" private network, not through open-fiber connections such as those owned by the city. The fiber infrastructure likely supports that speed, while the CPE and other devices cannot.
