Inquiring About Managing ARGB Fans Without an ARGB Header
Hey there!
If your motherboard doesn't have an ARGB header but you need ARGB fans, you can still manage them using software. You might want to look into tools like ASUS ARGB Control or similar firmware solutions that support fan control regardless of the header type. Let me know if you need more details!
Welcome to the forums and a joyful New Year to all newcomers! The motherboard I’m interested in (B550 Gaming GEN3) lacks an ARGB header, yet the fans I need are ARGB—how can I manage them through software?
I’m struggling to find a clear solution. If the fans aren’t included with an ARGB hub or controller, then regardless of the software you choose, you won’t be able to use the lighting features.
Could you share the model and make of your fans? If they’re sold in a case, mention that as well.
Keep in mind that even though your board has dual RGB headers, ARGB and RGB aren’t compatible. Depending on the specific fans, an add-on controller might be worth considering. An ARGB header motherboard would likely be more beneficial in this situation.

Hey there! Thanks for your fast response! <3
I’m feeling really confused about what to choose next. It’s a bit overwhelming, but I have a good GPU, solid SSD storage, and a reliable power supply. My CPU, an i5 8400B, is getting older and has been causing blue screens and crashes lately. I’ve tried reapplying thermal paste, cleaning the PC, and checking the fan, but it still gets too hot—sometimes reaching 90°C or even higher during games.
My CPU needs an upgrade because my current motherboard only supports up to the 8th generation Intel CPUs. I’m stuck with my existing board, and my RAM is at 2666MHz, which might be a bit low for newer games. My case is a custom build from about eight years ago, so changing it might not be necessary, but I’m considering switching to the Talos E3 Mesh.
I was thinking about getting an "upgrade kit" that includes a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, a B550 Gaming GEN3 motherboard, and 16GB 3200MHz RAM. But I’m having trouble deciding between ARGB and RGB headers, so I’m not sure if this is the best choice. I’d really appreciate some advice on which components to pick. Thanks! <3
