I own a m.2 to PCIe adapter (will connect the card at the back) which includes an internal AC 9260. My brother has an older Intel Wi-Fi card: the AC 3165. Even though they're the same distance from the router (20-23 feet), he experiences a steady 9 ping while my ping ranges from 30 to 200. My questions are: does using a m.2 PCIe adapter affect a Wi-Fi card's range and power if it was designed for the m.2 slot? Does the AC 3165 simply offer better range compared to the AC 9260? Link to your card: https://www.amazon.com/Fenvi-Wireless-AC...B07DMDZ888

m.2 refers only to the connector shape used to link the card with the PC when both antennas are properly connected. If you experience weak signal strength or high ping, consider switching the Wi-Fi channel on your router. However, since some Intel WiFi cards perform well while others don’t, it’s wise to check reviews before purchasing, such as the AC 3160 Mini PCIeXpress and 3165. The Intel 7200 series has mixed feedback, so you haven’t tried the Intel 9200 yet. You might already have a good setup with a laptop adapter—use the 3165 for laptops, or opt for an Ethernet adapter instead of Wi-Fi since Ethernet is more reliable.
