I recently changed from an older Intel chip to a 7900X3D, but now I feel like I'm starting over. That's why I'm asking for help if anyone can clarify some of these numbers and settings. I'm not fluent in English, so maybe I'm misunderstanding. I'm using an ASRock B650 board. In idle, my CPU power consumption is 55 watts. Is that typical? How can I bring it down to a more Intel-like idle setting? In-game, the CPU stays low thanks to Eco Mode; only Idle has a lower VDD. The VDD and VDD are around 1.3V in idle with a peak of 1.34V as a maximum. My SOC stays at 1.188 when activated PBO is on for Eco access. I'm currently using 65 watts, which seems high. Would it be better to go for 105 watts instead? The temperature spiked at 105W and usually drops to about 79°C in R23. Should I enable aggressive BIOS settings? I'm not sure—I just read that some users had their CPUs destroyed due to voltage spikes. I only have two 32G RAM sticks with Expo enabled. Curve optimizer is new to me. I tried undervolting with it but didn't see a -15 reduction on a stable with 100% CCP. So I didn't dig deeper. Could the silicon be bad? Should I set CPPC preferred cores to ON/OFF/Driver or Auto, and what do each of those do? Thanks in advance.

Many factors are involved here. For idle PPT, it makes sense that the 7900X draws more power than Intel due to its two CCD+ I/O chiplets compared to a single monolithic die. No need to worry, I won’t adjust any manual voltage settings. Use CO for reference—reducing all cores by 15 isn’t too extreme. The issue lies with the weakest core; you can check if some cores perform better but it’s not worth the effort. PBO is somewhat disappointing, though you can set it to +150, but chances are slim. Eco mode will cut power consumption by about 15% across all cores without affecting gaming performance, making it quite efficient. Put RAM in EXPO or XMP settings, and either leave it as is or follow a year-long course on BuildZoid videos. CPPC seems ineffective for non-3D chips, but Performance preferences work fine under default settings.
