I have three queries. The effectiveness of resetting your PC in Windows compared to using the media installation tool remains unclear. There’s no clear backup location for your 600 GB data on your HDD—considering a new drive might be necessary. The reset won’t necessarily erase your HDD contents, but it could affect data stored in Windows directories linked to your SSD. If the issue persists despite a reset, it may be related to BIOS settings and NVIDIA control panel configurations. Additionally, since you’ve reset all BIOS settings and the problem continues, this appears to be the only viable solution at this stage.

The optimal method is to erase your entire storage space and reinstall from a USB or CD (you can erase the drive during setup). This shouldn't impact your other drives, but for extra caution disconnect it.

I need to remove the other storage device (my HDD) since that seems like the safest way to confirm the motherboard software is gone. I'm also worried about data loss if I don't erase it, even after unplugging, because the file structure might become invalid.

Find a 1TB or 2TB iCloud plan for a month (around £2.50 to £5). Upload your files then delete everything when you're done.

As discussed earlier, you could save a backup to the cloud, though a 600GB file might require several minutes.

Another inquiry then, if the drive isn't erased after a fresh installation, what steps should I take?

Open the iCloud storage app (or your preferred service) and instruct it to back up all folders and files.

This attempt doesn't resolve the issue of cleaning the drive.

That was a poor decision.

Uses a saved image of the system configuration. For pre-built setups from companies like Dell or HP, it restores to factory defaults. Consider replacing the drive or switching to cloud storage. If you have Office 365, you get 1TB of space. Keep in mind these limits depend on file size and your chosen options. Windows won't impact files on other drives or partitions. Only data on the C:\ drive remains unchanged. Relocating folders like Documents or Downloads won't affect them. Default BIOS settings aren't necessarily correct, and they don't fix faulty hardware.
