Inquiries regarding RAM
Good evening. I own a recent HP Omen 15 DC0088NR with an i7-8750H processor, 1x 8GB DDR4 RAM at 2667MHz, a 1050TI chipset, and a 256GB SSD. I’m planning to upgrade the RAM and have two RAM slots available. I’m considering whether to stick with Corsair or explore other brands, and I’d like to upgrade the SSD to something around 1TB—preferably a Samsung 860 GB drive. Before making any purchases, I want to ensure these upgrades will actually improve performance rather than just cost more. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You likely prefer Corsair, faced issues with GSKill and Crucial, but not with Corsair. For speed, it shouldn’t matter unless you can get a faster one without spending much. Storage isn’t a big concern since you already have an SSD; upgrading won’t help much. If you need more space, consider a hard drive—especially if your laptop has extra room. A 2.5-inch drive would be ideal for laptops.
Likely won't see much improvement, so skip the expensive 860 EVO and consider the MX500 instead. Pick the most affordable memory package you're using right now. Just remember, the label on the product isn't important—what matters is the actual device. Regarding RAM, there are three reputable manufacturers, all of which perform well.
I’ve noticed that Corsair is often the top choice, though I’m not sure why. There’s probably a good reason behind it.
Examine the memories you currently possess and aim to acquire an identical one. For SSDs, any unit will suffice as long as you prioritize speed within your financial limits.
