A solid PtP link requires a compatible device on both sides, not just regular WiFi. A basic access point at one end might suffice, but it will face more interference from other networks and may hit legal frequency limits depending on the country.
Installed the cable and everything is functioning properly except the new router, which seems faulty. The Wi-Fi works, but some sites are still having connection issues. The older router, using a wired connection, is performing well without any problems. I've filed an RMA and it was approved. The streaming should work now that we switched to a wired connection.
