Hello, I just wanted to start a discussion in this thread about the troubleshooting post I shared regarding my Mobo and CPU upgrade. I’m reaching out to see if anyone from Raptor Lake or Raptor Refresh has faced similar CPU-related issues—like instability, USB problems, or complications after updating microcode. I’m also curious about any solutions they’ve tried or tools that might help diagnose the problem beyond Event Viewer and HWinfo/Monitor. Your insights would be really valuable.

Intel initially stated that all Raptor Lake processors requiring 65W or higher were impacted and might experience issues. They later revised their announcement, indicating that certain models remained unaffected. A previous post included a list of CPUs without extended warranty coverage (link omitted). Many Raptor Lake chips are derived from Alder Lake, essentially rebranded versions. It's still advised to update the BIOS and utilize one of Intel's profiles.

I actually installed my bios only a day after building (due to MSI's page being absolutely abhorrent and just not letting me access drivers), I have an 14900K personally and I’m waiting on the 0x12B microcode to come to the PZ mobos before I do anything more drastic to diagnose my own issues.

I own an i5 13400 which remains unaffected by Intel's recent updates. It's been running smoothly for nearly a year without any problems. Prior to these performance concerns, I considered moving to a more powerful 14th generation processor, but I've decided against it. Even with the fixes applied, I still feel uncertain about their reliability.

AMD would have been appealing, but the reasons behind my decision to get the 14900k instead of the 13900k were... not ideal. I might reach out to some local contacts who know about these concerns. Still, it seems the next generation is likely to be solid? We’ll have to monitor things closely.

It will be a completely different socket, meaning the 12th, 13th, and 14th generations won’t work. This means a fresh motherboard is needed, and it won’t support DDR4.

I'm just checking if turning off E-Cores affects the readings. DTS and Enhanced tabs in HWinfo show very different package temperatures—does this mean Enhanced is still accessing inactive cores?

Also checked the Intel ME update. It seems to be part of the BIOS updates for Asus boards, but some other manufacturers require a separate ME update. JayTwocents likely referenced this in one of his videos, though I can’t recall the exact reference or confirm its accuracy without more details.

It shouldn't impact performance based on what I understand, and the BIOS update appears to have resolved the issue by confirming it with the CSME tool.
