Inquiries about Windows 10
Hello, I'm working on assembling a PC and need Windows 10. The local stores I visit only sell Windows 10 on DVDs, and I don't intend to use a DVD reader inside the machine. I'm in Singapore, and the Microsoft Store there lists Windows 10 for around $195 USD, which seems like a significant overcharge. Can I purchase Windows from the US store instead, where it's about $139? Also, when I buy the digital version on the Microsoft Store, does it simply provide a product key or also allow me to download it? Thanks in advance.
You can build a USB drive to install Windows 10 using the provided media (visit their website for details) and run it without activation. To activate, visit a grey market platform like kinguin and purchase an activation key.
Microsoft offers its own utility to fetch files and generate installation media, known as the Media Creation Tool. Acquire it through the grey market for a key.
You can obtain it from their website, either directly or through indirect methods at no cost. Just need a key to enable it. I’m uncertain if the US version works for you... it’s probably functional, but technically it resembles piracy since different versions are meant for specific areas only.
Yes, you can purchase a DVD version and set up Windows via the Media Creation Tool available on the Microsoft website. You won't need to rely on installation media.
You don’t need a activation or product key to set up Windows 10 and you can use it without ever turning it on (I did that for a few months), though some features will remain restricted. Search "windows 10 iso" on Google, visit the Microsoft site, and download the media creation tool. Use it to make a USB boot drive and install Windows onto your PC. At the installation screen, one page will ask for a product key—select later or choose “I don’t have one” and proceed normally. Product keys can also be obtained independently (without the DVD) by contacting Microsoft directly.
