You purchased this Windows version and are wondering if you can reuse your key after wiping the drive. You also want to securely erase your Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB drive to prevent anyone from accessing credit details.

I typically clean my drives using a slightly wet cloth to remove any residue

Yes, you can reuse your key on the same PC. Windows usually works as long as there are no hardware changes. Just boot from the USB, begin Windows setup, and during the 'select disk' step, remove all listed partitions. This should work fine unless you opt for a low-level format, which would take a lot longer. It’s better to keep the HDD.
