You can purchase individual RAM sticks from the same brand, model, frequency, and latency for dual-channel use. Buying two identical Trident Z sticks or mixing RAM from another kit won’t affect performance as long as they match your system requirements. Dual-channel operation and memory overclocking or XMP support are enabled by using compatible, high-speed RAM in the correct configuration. Adding more RAM to your current setup—like an 8GB system with 8GB of RAM—will still allow dual-channel functionality, though it won’t increase total capacity beyond what you have installed.

I tested two distinct brands and models in my previous configuration without issues, but to be cautious, opt for the same RAM module or consider a cheaper, free alternative if you locate one.
