Hello! Here’s a clearer version of your questions:

1. Would upgrading the CPU help with this setup? I have a 1440p monitor and play games like MW2022 and Battlefield. A CPU like the 5700X or 5800X3D might improve performance, but I noticed only small gains in FPS. Any advice on whether that would make a difference?

2. I currently have a B450 motherboard and the new card is an X8 model. Would switching to a B550 motherboard really boost performance? Am I being too cautious about the upgrade? Thanks for any help!

I question whether upgrading the CPU will improve performance further. Which video did you view? 2) Results indicate the RX6650XT performs similarly on PCIe 3.0 x8 versus PCIe 4.0 x8, with minor variations. The motherboard doesn’t justify a change.

For no2: / and for no1: / In the last video I'm unsure if his 1% lows really increased so much. It might be fake, but it seems real in some games like Cod Cold War where FPS has dropped recently. The GPU isn't at 99%, which is lower than expected, and FPS is dropping. I don't know if the driver issues are the problem—it could be an optimization issue or something like 5700x or 5800x3d might help improve FPS even with a GPU like 6650XT or 3060.

On number 1, it seems a stronger CPU is more beneficial for CPU-intensive games such as CSGO, especially when paired with a powerful graphics card beyond the RX6650XT. However, the overall value doesn't justify the cost. On number 2, the two videos present conflicting opinions on game performance gains. One claims Fortnite improves, while the other denies it. I suspect an issue with the testing approach in the first video. Even minor differences aren't worth the price of a new motherboard. If I were you, I'd retain the motherboard and CPU instead and allocate funds toward a GPU upgrade.

I recommend an 8-core chip if you can afford it, such as the 5800X3D or 5700X. The 5800X3D offers a noticeable boost in gaming performance, especially for CPU-intensive titles and MP games, while still providing smoother operation in productivity tasks. The 5700X is also functional but may not deliver the same level of improvement. Mid-range GPUs work adequately on a PCie Gen3 with Gen3 NVMe, so you won’t see significant gains.
