To save money, avoid purchasing a $380 motherboard. It will function, though the RAM might be slow.

It's not about saving money, I just don't want to spend $2083.49 all at once. I have the funds, I could manage it, but that would leave me just a bit short of a grand. My old computer runs first-gen Ryen 7, and I'm trying to future-proof it slowly. As for the speed, it's not an issue—I'll upgrade my RAM when I get a better paycheck. Thanks for confirming it will work!

I'm focusing on the present situation instead of predicting the future. By the end of this year AMD will release their AM5 socket, so purchasing an AM4 board now means missing out on a future platform. There are upgrade options all the way up to a 5950X, but that's the limit. AM5 is expected to support another 3 to 5 generations of CPUs, which will ensure long-term compatibility. I recommend waiting until the end of the year to upgrade and take advantage of these new features. You'll get a new socket, newer CPUs, DDR5 memory, and possibly more GPUs. Unless your current board is failing, it doesn't seem worthwhile right now—especially with a $380 motherboard, which is usually a poor investment.
