I tried to start Space Engineers and it crashed with a 4.6 error. I’m looking for a way to get a working fix—either a download or a method to add the Net Framework manually. Also, if you’re using Linux Mint 20.2 UMA with Steam Proton, can you inject a Net Framework build yourself? I need a clear step-by-step guide, no jargon.

Linux and wine offer a variant of .NET known as mono. In Proton you're unsure how to use it, but checking out wine-mono might help.

You can achieve this using Protontricks. Check ProtonDB for the appropriate command—like protontricks-flat 244850 --force dotnet48 faudio—to run it. There are various methods people use to make it work.
