When something is already running, it shouldn't affect the outcome. I once had an OEM copy of XP on my old machine and made VMs of it for use. After getting a new machine, I couldn't run XP in a VM there, but I could still use it on the old one and transfer the VM, and XP kept working fine.

Last month I organized 8 computers with HDDs running XP. I believe there might be one more with XP installed, though it’s using IDE instead.

It’s unclear if this will assist, but you might be able to examine the disk image and create a VM disk version from it. What I meant is that if you installed XP on a permitted system (which wouldn’t function anymore), it could be transferred to an unsupported machine and would still operate. So finding a working VM of an active XP installation elsewhere should keep it running on your setup.

You've experimented with several solutions. I've resolved many issues, making it a reliable choice for troubleshooting software problems.

It was a Windows XP system that had been freshly reinstalled after wiping the hard drive.

I previously cleaned the hard drive of the computer, and now I need Windows installed again.

It was the specific product code that was involved. I won't test your code since I have many resources at home.
