I tried installing Windows XP and found it blocked access until activation. I explored online and phone support options, but the first choice didn’t work. Microsoft’s support line transferred me to a representative who ended the call abruptly. What should I do next?

They probably won’t turn it on anymore because it’s quite outdated, but who can say for sure?

They won’t turn it on. XP is only functional when you break the rules.

They won't trigger the license because the software isn't more recent. The safest choice at the moment is Linux.

They might have been better off explaining things instead of cutting me off. I need this device to run programs that don’t function with the latest Windows updates!

No, they don't function properly in compatibility mode.

Consider trying Linux with Wine. Your application might be compatible. Besides that, you could obtain an XP VM elsewhere and test it. Programs that were built before XP should generally function well in a modern VM environment.

I've never encountered anything that can be resolved by switching to Compatibility Mode. I'll give it a shot! The issue with the VM is that I won't be able to turn Windows on, which means I can't log in and it's not helpful.
