Budge in the budget finely let me order the strix B350 gaming F for my Ryzen 5 1600 . I am not sure if I should just treat this as a new build or not kinda looks as if that is the way of things nothing is staying no drivers nothing so a fresh install all the way around ? Just a few questions the new chipset drivers for ryzen am I going to have to have them to post or just start windows or update from there ? The windows is the other question same hard drive same CPU diff MoBo ... am I making a call to MS or can this be done online . " I really don't like talking to them " everytime I talk to them I turn green and throw shit around ... ! After this not sure witch way to go cooling or upgrade the GPU . Have a really good 1050Ti ... yeah I know what you are thinking but when I parted this out no way I was paying what they were asking for a graphics card at that time and it's not much better now . This little card has blown me away though. I have never seen the temps over 58 -60c never and I have had it clocked all the way to 2.1 and then some... really I have screen shots ... check this out it's a SSC " no power connector " ...lol IKR ??? wut ??? 650w EVGA PSU so I have some room to work as I upgrade just wanted some other ideas other than my own ... the other voices in my head don't speek geek so ??? yeah there's that . Air cooling is still on the table but its got to be cool ... I do want to say the case ( CoolerMaster MasterBox / white& black ) does not have top mount for RAD without modin it so there is that . Any way that the deal . Any ideas ?
It seems like you're sharing a humorous take on a past mishap. The total fail story of the Tomahawk first is definitely worth a laugh!
You're trying to figure out the next steps. If you're swapping the motherboard, consider installing Windows from scratch if you don't have important data to preserve. This will prevent any future issues. Your new board and CPU will come with everything they need. Focus on installing Windows first, then install the appropriate drivers like your graphics card.
It seems there’s a lot of uncertainty about the setup. I’ve managed to download the games I had back to HHD storage only, while the SSD holds the operating system and other essentials. That’s my main concern—can Windows be activated online, or will I need to contact support? The cooling aspect is another point; the stock cooler works adequately, and there are many options available in both water and air types. So far, the case doesn’t have any lights, giving it a clean start. I’m just exploring ideas to avoid repeating mistakes due to budget constraints and needing to rebuild later. I’ve already returned the module twice for different problems, with each board having its own issues. This one’s VRM might be leaking oil on the back side, unlike the previous front-side leak. The RAM problems never resolved—only worked with a single DIMM. At 2933Mhz it should fix everything, but I’m worried if both sticks would cause crashes. The B350 gaming F model seems promising for resolving these issues, and I hope it helps me get back on track.
Just received an update from MSI about the Tomahawk. The new MoBo will arrive around 11am EST. Excited! I’ve updated the system and run some benchmarks. The GPU scores are impressive at 2309 on median settings, with the SSC 1050 Ti using Evga stock. At a 150 overclock on the core and 200 on memory, it hits 2126 in Heaven and 3704 on memory. Overall score remains 2309 with the overclock. I suspect it was stock settings at 2189, though I’m not sure how strong this is. The Cinebench score is 1279, which is only reaching the Xeon at 3.8GHz. With these results, everything seems fine until I swap in another stick and the CPU test improves slightly but the GPU test crashes. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on and wondering if swapping RAM might help. I’ve already removed one RAM stick and run the system with just 8GB, but the problem persists. Any suggestions?
Will this problem move along with the new hardware to the updated board? Or is it possible it might not? I’m still unsure what exactly it is, but from other reviews and experiences, it seems likely.
